Special welding torches for the Offshore

One of our biggest Offshore customers works on projects across oceans all over the world, in which pipelines are welded together and lowered to the sea bed using special ships. In collaboration with their R&D department, Translas has developed a specific welding torch which has now gone into production.

The pipe segments are welded by two welding torches in a single run. Specially designed contact tips allow welding deep into the weld. This concept has saved this customer a considerable amount of time.

Using advanced computer equipment, they can monitor all the welds for gas cavities from its Dutch base, and if necessary interrupt the process or stop it completely.
